So here are the pictures from my trip to the Ducati Factory and Museum to go with the Ferrari Museum photos I posted yesterday. For those interested in visiting some day, you do need to make a reservation online for the factory tour, but we didn't know that and showed up about 20 min early and were able to join an existing tour. So it is possible to walk onto a tour, but isn't a guarantee. There was also a 20 Euro or so entry fee for the 2 tours, Factory and Museum, which were guided by very nice, good looking, Italian ladies :)
You can't take pictures in the Factory, but are free to shoot in the Museum. The Factory is really an assembly plant, none of the actual parts are made there. The Corsa division is there as well, but no entry in there unfortunately, all very top secret. You can peer in the window and see some of the engines and frames, but that's it. My main take away from the tour was that there is only 2 differences between the US spec and Euro spec bikes - 1. There is a filter on the exhaust to meet US emissions laws (which I thought could be easily removed by anyone with a US spec bike to gain a little better flow) and 2. There is a reflector on the front fork that isn't there on Euro spec. The highlight of the factory tour was the testing booth, where they do the final engine testing by running the bikes at full throttle on a dyno.
Alright on to the pictures. The lighting was a little weird in the museum so some of the pictures were not that great, I left the worst ones out but put in some with off lighting so you get a better overall idea of the museum setup. Enjoy!
